Dear Susquehanna Council Cubmasters and Pack Committee Chairs,

The Susquehanna Council has been approved to participate in the Family Den Pilot Program by the National Council of the BSA. The Family Den Pilot Program is open to all Family Cub Scout Packs in the Council. The program will allow you to form dens that are comprised of boys and girls instead of being limited to single-gender dens only. There is a 14-minute video that describes the Family Den Pilot Program in detail here.

If your Pack wants to participate in the Family Den Pilot Program, you will need to have a Pack representative attend the Susquehanna Council’s Family Den Kickoff via Zoom on Thursday, June 30. Registration for this kickoff will be available Tuesday, June 21 on Blackpug and on the “Family Den Pilot Program Kickoff for June 30th“ link on the Council Website.  Packs that participate in the pilot program will need to fill out the Family Den Pilot Program Memorandum of Understanding (PDF) and email it to dennis.dugan@scouting.org by July 22, 2022.

If your Pack is currently Boy-Only due to manpower or facility issues, participation in the Family Den Pilot Program may enable your Pack to easily offer the Cub Scout Program to girls in your area. Submission of a Family Den Pilot Program MOU will inform the council that you are participating in the pilot program AND becoming a Family Pack.

Participation in the Family Den Pilot Program is 100% voluntary and a decision for each Pack to make. Thank you for everything you do to provide the Scouting program to youth in your community.
